About Geetha Priyadarshini

Dr. Geetha Priyadarshini Badhirappan is an Associate Professor in Physics at PSG Institute of Advanced Studies (PSGIAS), Coimbatore, affiliated with the Nanotech Research Innovation and Incubation Centre. She concurrently serves as Head of International Admissions and manages the institute's cleanroom facilities. With more than 17 years of research experience, she teaches Applied Physics and Nanotechnology for energy systems to engineering students and has supervised four Ph.D. students. Her academic credentials include a Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, awarded in 2012, an M.Sc. in Materials Science from PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore, and a B.Sc. in Applied Science from the same institution.

Dr. Badhirappan's research focuses on functional and smart materials, encompassing thin film metallic glasses, metal oxides and nitrides synthesized via vapor deposition, nanostructured thin film thermoelectric materials for waste energy recovery, nanocoatings for high-speed machining tools, shape memory alloy thin films, corrosion-resistant metallic glasses, thermal protective coatings using organic-inorganic hybrids, maskless lithography for thin film fabrication, and thermal interface coatings for fuel cells. Her work advances sustainable energy solutions and innovative materials development. She has authored over 70 peer-reviewed articles, including 'Investigations on Optical Absorption and the Pyro-phototronic Effect in SnSe/SnSe2 Heterophase Thermoelectric Thin Films' (2024), 'Silicon meta-atom-enabled self-powered selectively patterned photodetector' (2025), 'Investigation on Thermoelectric Power Factor of Tin–Copper Selenide Thin Films for Energy Harvesting Applications' (2025), and 'Durable Electrocatalyst Support Materials Based on N-Doped Mesoporous Carbon Nanofibers with Titanium Nitride Overlay Coating for High-Performance Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells' (2024). Additionally, she has led eight sponsored and consultancy projects funded by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (MOP&NG), and Lakshmi Ring Travellers, Coimbatore.
