About Gary
Gary Edwards served as a Professor at Fairmont State University in the College of Business and Aviation, Department of Marketing and Management Studies. He was associated with concentrations in Information Systems Management and Data Analytics. Edwards held a Master's in Business Administration and brought 28 years of experience to his teaching role as documented in the 2017 Computer Science program review. In that capacity, he functioned as an adjunct instructor in Computer Science, delivering COMP 1101 – Management Information Systems in Spring 2017, alongside BISM 3200 – Management Information Systems and BISM 2200 – Business Information Tools. These courses underscored his expertise in bridging business applications with information systems fundamentals, preparing students for practical implementation in organizational settings. His instructional contributions extended to undergraduate offerings like BISM 2000 Management Information Systems, supporting the development of skills in business processes, operations, and decision-making.
Edwards actively engaged in faculty service, representing the Marketing and Management department on the Faculty Senate Library Committee in 2023. He mentored students in scholarly pursuits, including a Business Administration major with a Finance concentration at the 2022 Celebration of Student Scholarship. In May 2023, he hosted approximately 100 Marion County high school students for Campus Information Systems Management Day, where he emphasized, “They use them to support the business processes, their operations, and their decision-making. Information Systems Management is a vital part of every business today.” Faculty including Edwards guided graduates like Tafara Ushendibaba toward careers in designing software applications and systems for clients. Following a distinguished career, the university celebrated Professor Gary Edwards' retirement in December 2025, noting his impact amid transitions in the Information Systems Management program.
