Professor Gamhewage Nuwan Kodagoda holds a PhD from Sheffield Hallam University (2018), an MPhil Degree from the University of Moratuwa (2005), and a BSc Eng. (Hons) from the University of Moratuwa (1995). Throughout his over two-decade career at the Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT), he has held numerous leadership positions. He is currently the Pro Vice Chancellor of the Faculty of Computing and Software Engineering since April 2024, following roles as Acting Pro-Vice Chancellor (Computing) from February to March 2024, Dean of the Faculty of Computing from February 2023 to January 2024, Associate Dean from June 2022 to January 2023, Head of the Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering from April 2019 to May 2022, Head of the Department of Software Engineering from January 2017 to March 2019, Head of the Department of Information Technology from May 2008 to March 2015, and Chairman of the Curriculum and Academic Quality Committee from 2010 to July 2013. His academic progression includes Lecturer from November 2001 to April 2005, Senior Lecturer from May 2005 to November 2006, Senior Lecturer (Higher Grade) from December 2006 to March 2021, and Assistant Professor from April 2021 to present.
Professor Gamhewage Nuwan Kodagoda's academic interests lie in algorithm design and optimization in parallel computing, high performance computing, machine learning, development of software engineering tools to enhance software development processes, and eLearning.
