Md Farhadur Reza is an Associate Professor of Computer Science in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Eastern Illinois University. He joined Eastern Illinois University in Fall 2021 as an Assistant Professor and was recently promoted to Associate Professor after receiving tenure. Prior to this appointment, Reza served as Assistant Professor of Computer Science at the University of Central Missouri from August 2019 to August 2021. His academic background includes a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, awarded in December 2017, an M.Sc. in Computer Science from the same institution in 2014, and a B.Sc. in Computer Science and Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology in 2005.
Reza's research focuses on high-performance computing architectures, Networks-on-Chip (NoC), interconnection networks, multi-core systems, resource management, and the application of machine learning and artificial intelligence for design optimization. Key publications include "Neural Network-Based Mapping of Deep Neural Networks onto Network-on-Chip Architectures" co-authored with Dominik Cloud, "Nature-inspired Dragonfly Algorithm for High-Performance Application Mapping in Network-on-Chip Architectures" (2024, IEEE MCSOC), "Optimization of HVAC Systems with Edge Computing Using AI and Data Analytics for Building Energy Efficiency" with Haiyan Xie, "Machine Learning Enabled Solutions for Design and Optimization Challenges in NoC-based Systems" (2023), and a 2018 article in Computers & Electrical Engineering. His scholarly work has garnered over 300 citations on Google Scholar. Reza has received the Achievement and Contribution Award (ACA) from Eastern Illinois University for 2022-23 and 2024-25, along with a $5,000 research grant as Principal Investigator in 2024. He teaches courses such as Competitive Programming, chairs search committees, and is an ACM member contributing to conferences.
