Rate My Professor Eveline Peeters

Eveline Peeters is a Professor and Head Lecturer in the Department of Bio-engineering Sciences at Vrije Universiteit Brussel. She holds a PhD in Bioengineering Sciences from Vrije Universiteit Brussel, where she also completed her bachelor and master studies in Bioengineering Sciences. Her research focuses on molecular and synthetic microbiology, with particular emphasis on the molecular mechanisms of transcription regulation in archaea and the application of these insights in synthetic biology. After her PhD, she conducted research visits to institutions including Rijksuniversiteit Groningen, Université Paris-Sud, and Institut Pasteur. In 2014, she was appointed assistant professor in the Research Group of Microbiology at VUB and established a research team dedicated to molecular and synthetic microbiology. Her work has expanded to encompass microbes across domains of life, integrating fundamental studies with application-driven projects in areas such as environmental sustainability and the transition to a biobased industry, including the development of microbial cell factories for chemical and material production.
