Dr. Siew Eu-Gene is a Senior Lecturer in the Malaysia School of Business at Monash University Malaysia. He earned his PhD in Business Systems from Monash University in 2005 with a thesis titled 'Towards Data Driven Classification in Acute and Primary Care,' followed by a Master of Business Systems in Data Analytics in 1999 on 'Software Metrics Prediction Using Artificial Neural Network,' a Graduate Diploma in Computing in 1997, and a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Accounting and Information Systems in 1994. His research specializations encompass Accounting Information Systems, Web Mining including blog classification and sentiment analysis, Data Mining, Business Analytics, and Big Data. Before joining Monash, he worked as a Lecturer at KDU Penang University College, an auditor at an audit firm, and an accountant at a manufacturing company. He currently serves as Department Coordinator and has been recognized as Head of Accounting.
Dr. Siew Eu-Gene has published extensively in leading journals such as International Journal of Accounting Information Systems, PLoS ONE, Journal of Information Technology Teaching Cases, and Knowledge-Based Systems. Key publications include 'Organizational and environmental influences in the adoption of computer-assisted audit tools and techniques (CAATTs) by audit firms in Malaysia' (2020, cited 209 times), 'Factors influencing audit technology acceptance by audit firms: A new I-TOE adoption framework' (2012, cited 176 times), 'Emerging approaches in literature-based discovery: techniques and performance review' (2017), 'Learning the heterogeneous bibliographic information network for literature-based discovery' (2017), 'Overcoming resistance to change in a big data analytics implementation case study' (2025), and 'Big data analytics implementation issues: a case study of a large bank in Malaysia' (2024). With over 1,000 citations on Google Scholar, his work has significant impact in audit technology adoption, cybersecurity, green behavior, and financial inclusion. He holds editorial board positions with PLoS ONE, is a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants, and has secured external research grants totaling approximately RM200,000 from the Ministry of Higher Education and Malaysian Development Corporation. Awards include the Blue Letter award (2020), EII Awards for Education Innovation (2018), and i5 Grant Competition for Innovative Pedagogy (2023). Dr. Siew Eu-Gene accepts PhD students in Business Analytics, information systems, and accounting-finance technology research, and spoke at the National Accounting Educators Convention 2025.
