Estelle Victoria Lambert, also known as Vicki Lambert, is Emeritus Professor and Senior Research Scholar at the University of Cape Town. She holds a BA in Physical Education, an MS in Exercise Physiology, and a PhD. Her research focuses on physical activity and obesity in communities in transition, childhood physical activity and obesity, behaviour change and community-based interventions, and the regulation of energy metabolism. She has served as Director of the UCT Research Centre for Health through Physical Activity, Lifestyle and Sport (HPALS) and has held leadership roles in international networks including the African Physical Activity Network, Agita Mundo, and the International Society for Physical Activity and Health.
Lambert is a Fellow of the University of Cape Town and an NRF B1-rated scientist. She has contributed as South African principal investigator to multi-country studies such as METS and ISCOLE, and led initiatives including Healthy Active Kids South Africa and the STOP-SA Study. She has received the South African Medical Research Council Platinum Medal and maintains high citation metrics with an h-index exceeding 55 across major databases. Her work includes extensive international collaborations on non-communicable disease prevention and physical activity policy, particularly in the Global South.
