Enny Paixão earned an MSc in Public Health from the Instituto de Saúde Coletiva at Universidade Federal da Bahia. She completed a PhD in Epidemiology at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, with her thesis focusing on dengue during pregnancy. Following her doctorate, she received a Sir Henry Wellcome Fellowship to investigate congenital infections using electronic health records from Brazil. She currently holds a Wellcome Career Development Award supporting research on the long-term effects of prenatal exposure to infectious diseases in children and adolescents.

Her research interests include the impact of social and environmental determinants on birth, growth, morbidity, and survival, drawing on Brazilian birth cohorts and routinely collected data. At the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, she serves as Associate Professor in the Department of Infectious Disease Epidemiology and International Health, Faculty of Epidemiology and Population Health. She contributes to teaching in public health and epidemiology, including as co-module organizer for distance learning courses and tutor for face-to-face programs, while supervising MSc and PhD students. Her work encompasses topics such as vaccine effectiveness, congenital Zika syndrome, and arbovirus infections.
