About Emily

Emily Goodspeed is an Associate Professor of Library Science at SUNY Adirondack, where she holds the positions of Library Chair and Digital Services Librarian. A SUNY Adirondack alumna, she earned an Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts from SUNY Adirondack in 2004, a Bachelor of Arts in English from The College of Saint Rose in 2006, and a Master of Science in Information Science from the University at Albany in 2008. During her graduate studies, she interned at the SUNY Adirondack Library, which provided foundational experience in library operations. Goodspeed began her tenure at the institution in 2011 as a part-time Cataloging Librarian and transitioned to full-time employment in 2014 as Digital Services Librarian. She was appointed Library Chair in September 2020, leading the library division.

As Digital Services Librarian, Goodspeed oversees essential library functions including systems management, database and electronic resources management, cataloging, acquisitions, and digitization projects. She serves as Collection Development and Liaison Librarian for the Arts, Media & Culture Division, Health Sciences Division, Mathematics Division, Science Division, Social Sciences Division, and Technology, Engineering & Computer Science Division. Additionally, she manages The Hill Collection, the library's local history archive. Goodspeed also participates in the college's assessment committee, contributing her expertise as Associate Professor of Library Science, Digital Services Librarian, and Library Chair. Her work supports faculty, students, and the campus community in research, information literacy, and access to scholarly resources.
