Dr Emiliya Suprun is a Lecturer in Systems Engineering within the School of Systems and Computing and the Capability Systems Centre at UNSW Canberra, a position she has held since 2023. Prior to this, she served as a postdoctoral research fellow at the School of Engineering and Built Environment and Cities Research Institute at Griffith University, Australia. Her PhD research centered on modeling an innovation system within the construction industry. Throughout her career, Emiliya has contributed to numerous research and consultancy projects with large interdisciplinary teams in engineering, construction, and environmental engineering and management. She has collaborated with government agencies on projects related to digital engineering, digital asset information management frameworks, and industry digital transformation maturity.
Emiliya's research specializations include integrated decision support systems using coupled system dynamics modelling, scenario analysis, operational research methods, digital engineering, digital transformation, systems thinking and modelling, systems engineering, participatory modelling and stakeholder engagement, decision support and policy-making, engineering management, project management, and innovation management. She has published extensively, with key works such as "Cyber Resilience in Critical Space Infrastructure: A Protection Framework to better fuse their Legal and Technical Governance" (Space Policy, 2026), "Advanced mission engineering approach for diverse applications in the defense domain" (Journal of Defense Modeling and Simulation, 2025), "MBSE for robust decision support systems: A resilient, mission-centric reference model" (Digital Engineering, 2025), "Digital transformation maturity assessment framework for large infrastructure asset owners" (Digital Engineering, 2024), and "Construction innovation diffusion in the Russian Federation: barriers, drivers and coping strategies" (Construction Innovation, 2015). Her achievements include the Student Experience of Teaching Commendation from Griffith University (2022), Pro Vice Chancellor (Sciences) Research Excellence Award (2019), and the Grant of the President of the Russian Federation for students, PhD candidates, and young scientists to study abroad (2013-2014). She is a member of the International Council on Systems Engineering (since 2023), the Systems Engineering Society of Australia, Policy Council Member of the Australasia/Oceania Chapter of the System Dynamics Society (since 2019), Executive Committee Member of the Griffith Systems Modelling Group (2019-2023), and Vice President of the Student Chapter of the System Dynamics Society (2018-2020).
