Devin Lavender, Pharm.D., BCPS, BCACP, is a Clinical Assistant Professor and PGY2 Ambulatory Care Residency Program Director in the Department of Clinical and Administrative Pharmacy at the University of Georgia College of Pharmacy. He earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Georgia College of Pharmacy in 2017, completed a PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at the VA Medical Center in Memphis, Tennessee, in 2018, and finished a PGY-2 Ambulatory Care Residency at the University of Georgia College of Pharmacy in 2019. Lavender joined the faculty at the University of Georgia College of Pharmacy in July 2020. He holds Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist certification since 2019.
Lavender's research specializations include ambulatory care pharmacy practice, chronic disease state management for conditions such as COPD, diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and heart failure, and pharmacy resident and student development and training. Key publications include the book chapter "Osteoporosis," co-authored with B.B. Phillips, in Pharmacotherapy Principles and Practice Study Guide, 5th edition (McGraw-Hill, 2020); "The impact of synchronous hybrid instruction on students’ engagement in a pharmacotherapy course" (Pharmacy Practice, 2022); "A scoping review evaluating the effect of SGLT-2 inhibitors on insulin dose requirements in insulin-dependent patients with type 2 diabetes" (Annals of Pharmacotherapy, 2022); "Factors associated with pharmacy residency matching: a scoping review" (Journal of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy, 2023); and "Pharmacist certification of drug therapy modification: A survey of pharmacist-reported practices, facilitators, and barriers in Georgia" (Journal of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy, 2024). In 2025, he received the PharmD Teacher of the Year award from the UGA College of Pharmacy for his dedication to student success and engaging teaching methods. Lavender directs the PGY2 Ambulatory Care Residency program and practices at the Athens VA Outpatient Clinic as part of the Ambulatory Care Collaborative.
