Dr. Deng Cao is the Chair and Professor of Computer Science in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio. He joined the university in January 2013 and has progressed through the academic ranks from Assistant Professor to Associate Professor and Full Professor. Cao earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from West Virginia University in 2013, along with M.S. degrees in Statistics and Physics from the same institution, and a B.S. in Physics from Hunan Normal University in China. His teaching portfolio encompasses a wide range of undergraduate courses, including Computer Science I and II, Data Structures, Computer Networks, Cyber Security I and II, Database Systems, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, Computer Architecture, Operating Systems, and Senior Project.
Cao's academic interests center on computer vision, image processing, biometrics, cybersecurity, pattern recognition, and machine learning. He has served as principal investigator or co-principal investigator on multiple grants totaling millions of dollars from funding sources such as the National Science Foundation, U.S. Department of Agriculture, Intel, Google, and the Ohio Department of Higher Education.
