Dr. David Sepulveda is an Assistant Professor of English in the School of Liberal Arts at Georgia Gwinnett College, where he contributes to the Literature faculty through his teaching and scholarship. His main academic focus encompasses political rhetoric and critical race theory, drawing from his expertise in rhetoric and composition. Born in Viña del Mar, Chile, Sepulveda spent most of his formative years in Central Florida. He earned a bachelor’s degree in English, with an emphasis in American Literature, from the University of Florida in 1998. After completing his undergraduate studies, he worked as a book editor and then as a sports writer and editor for several years, developing practical skills in professional communication and journalism. In 2003, Sepulveda returned to academia to pursue advanced degrees, reflecting his commitment to scholarly pursuits in language and rhetoric.
Sepulveda obtained a master’s degree in technical communication from the University of Central Florida in 2005 and culminated his education with a Ph.D. in rhetoric, composition, and the teaching of English from the University of Arizona in 2012. His publication record is extensive, featuring over a hundred reports and articles in the fields of technical communication and international soccer. These contributions highlight his ability to apply rhetorical analysis across academic and non-academic contexts. In his current appointment at Georgia Gwinnett College's English department, Sepulveda teaches courses that emphasize composition, rhetoric, and critical thinking, informed by his diverse career history in editing, sports media, and higher education pedagogy. His multicultural background and professional experiences enrich his approach to educating students in effective communication and cultural analysis.
