Dr. Daeyeon Kim is an Associate Professor of Sport Management and Program Coordinator at the University of Central Missouri, having joined the faculty in 2015 within the Department of Marketing, Public Relations, and Sport Management in the Harmon College of Business and Professional Studies. He earned his Ph.D. in Sport Management and M.S. in Sport Management from Indiana University at Bloomington, complemented by a B.S. in Physical Education and Business Administration from Korea University. Throughout his academic career at UCM, Dr. Kim has dedicated himself to teaching core courses such as Marketing, Finance, and Research in Sport Management, preparing students for careers in the dynamic sport industry. His commitment to professional development is evident in his active involvement with leading organizations, including the Sport Marketing Association and the North American Society for Sport Management, as well as other national and international sport management associations. Beyond academia, he holds the position of Marketing and Public Relations Director for the Korea Para Sports Association of Kansas, bridging scholarly insights with practical community service.
Dr. Kim's research specializations center on sport marketing and branding, sport fan engagement, and consumer behavior, areas that inform his pedagogical approach and scholarly output. His selected publications demonstrate contributions to key aspects of sport management literature. Notable works include 'The effect of endorsement and congruence on banner ads on sports websites' published in the International Journal of Sport Marketing and Sponsorship in 2017 (co-authored with W. Lee, Y. Hur, and C. Brigham), which examines advertising effectiveness in digital sport contexts; 'Investigating the role of sports commentary: An analysis of media consumption behavior and programmatic quality and satisfaction' in the Journal of Sport Media in 2016 (with M. Lee, A. S. Williams, and P. M. Pedersen), exploring media influences on viewer satisfaction; and 'Scandalous!: Reputation, impression management, and employee assistance programs (EAPs) in the NBA' in Sport Management Review in 2015 (with K.
