Dr. D. Rajamani is a Professor (Research) in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and serves as the Centre Head of the Centre for Advanced Materials Processing at Vel Tech Rangarajan Dr. Sagunthala R&D Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai. He holds a Ph.D. in Advanced Materials Processing from Vel Tech University, Chennai, focusing on non-traditional machining of superalloys, optimization techniques, and composite structures. His international research experience encompasses collaborations at the University of Aveiro, Portugal, for plasma processing of nickel superalloys; University of Naples Federico II, Italy, for developing tailored alloys for additive manufacturing; Helwan University, Egypt, for optimizing advanced machining processes; King Saud University, Saudi Arabia, applying metaheuristic algorithms to advanced engineering materials; and Central Manufacturing Technology Institute, India, for high strain rate characterization of additively manufactured materials.

Dr. Rajamani specializes in additive manufacturing, intelligent modeling and multi-response optimization of advanced processes, development of multi-material structures via metal additive manufacturing, machinability studies of fibre metal laminates, and high strain rate characterization for ballistic applications. He has secured funding for projects including a SERB-TARE grant worth Rs. 18,30,000 for high strain rate characterization of additive manufactured materials in collaboration with CMTI (2021-24), and a Vel Tech Seed Fund project of Rs. 1,90,000 on development and machinability characteristics of fibre intermetallic laminates (2018-19). His publication record features 15 SCI/SCOPUS-indexed papers, with prominent works such as 'Experimental Investigations on Dry Sliding Wear Behavior of Kevlar and Natural Fiber-Reinforced Hybrid Composites through an RSM GRA Hybrid Approach' (Materials, 2022), 'Nd: YAG laser cutting of Hastelloy C276: ANFIS modeling and optimization through WOA' (Materials and Manufacturing Processes, 2021), 'Parametric Optimization on Impact Strength of Selective Inhibition Sintering Fabricated PA-12 Parts Based on Evolutionary Optimization Algorithms' (Journal of Materials Engineering and Performance, 2021), and 'A hybrid approach of ANFIS-Artificial bee colony algorithm for intelligent modeling and optimization of plasma arc cutting on Monel 400 alloy' (Materials, 2021).
