Craig Longan is an adjunct professor of History at Fresno City College, part of the Social Science Division's History and Political Science department. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Studies and a Master’s Degree in History from California State University, Fresno. Longan has been teaching history courses at Fresno City College since at least spring 2014, as listed in official college capacity reports for classes such as HIST-11 (History of Western Civilization) and HIST-2 (United States History). In summer 2023, he taught History 12 (U.S. History from 1865) online.
Professor Longan's extensive teaching career spans multiple community colleges and universities. At Fresno City College, Reedley College, Merced College, and Porterville College, he has taught U.S. History to 1865 and U.S. History from 1865. He has instructed History of Western Civilization to 1648 and since 1648 at Fresno City College and College of the Sequoias. Longan has also covered specialized topics such as History of World War II, Ancient History, Modern European History, Modern German History, History of the Western Legal Tradition, Colonial Latin American/Pre-Colombian History, History of the Renaissance and Reformation, History of the Middle Ages, and California History, including at Chapman University. For online institutions like Kaplan University and University of Phoenix, his offerings encompassed 20th Century Humanities, American Business History, Political Science, Comparative Religion, History of the 1960s, The Founding Fathers, World Religious Traditions: Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, Introduction to Sociology of Popular American Culture, Philosophy of Logic and Critical Thinking, Geography of World Commerce, U.S. History Since 1945, and directed studies in History of the U.S. This broad instructional experience underscores his dedication to history education across diverse formats and institutions.
