Courtney Lewman serves as Assistant Professor and Co-Chair of the Health, Wellness, and Exercise Science department at Benedictine College, having joined the faculty in Fall 2022. In this capacity, she provides academic advising to students in the Exercise Science programs specializing in General Healthcare and Sports Management, as well as the Athletic Healthcare degree program. Lewman's leadership contributes to the department's offerings, including the Bachelor of Arts in Exercise Science, Athletic Health Care, and Strength and Conditioning programs, preparing students for professional roles in health, fitness, and rehabilitation.
Lewman is a proud alumna of Benedictine College, where she earned her B.A. in Health, Wellness, and Exercise Science in 2014 while competing for four years on the Lady Ravens women's soccer team. She advanced her expertise with an M.S. in Sport and Fitness Management from Missouri Western State University in 2017 and holds an A.A. in Physical Therapy Assistant. Prior to her academic career, Lewman worked for six years in the Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation department at Atchison Hospital, now Amberwell Atchison, gaining substantial clinical experience in patient rehabilitation and fitness therapy. This professional background enhances her instructional approach, bridging theoretical knowledge with practical applications in exercise science and healthcare. Her career path demonstrates a strong dedication to fostering student development in dynamic fields that combine athletics, wellness, and medical rehabilitation.
