Corinne Kusel is a registered nurse (RN) with a Graduate Diploma in Higher Education (Gdip HPE). She graduated in 1994 and possesses over 27 years of experience in the nursing profession. Her early career featured significant contributions to rural and remote nursing on the far west coast of South Australia, where she delivered care in challenging environments. Subsequently, she worked as a staff development nurse at Fremantle Hospital, focusing on the dementia-specific ward and the renal ward, supporting staff training and specialized patient care.
Corinne joined the University of Notre Dame Australia, School of Nursing and Midwifery, Fremantle Campus in 2011 as a Lecturer and Professional Practice Coordinator (PP1). She coordinates practicum experiences for first-semester nursing students and has tutored in Rural and Remote Health over several semesters. Her teaching responsibilities encompass Professional Practice, Rural and Remote Health, Social and Cultural Diversity, and Health Communications. In 2013, she participated in the Global Health Alliance Western Australia immersion program to Tanzania, accompanying 12 nursing students. She maintains registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and affiliation with SPINRPHEX. Corinne received a team citation from the Australian Learning and Teaching Council in 2011 for leadership and innovation in clinical practicum program design, providing a unique model of workplace reality for registered nurse students. She was also honored as a GHAWA Global Citizens Western Australia Alumni in 2013. Her community involvement includes membership on the Lance Holt School Fundraising Committee, serving as Team Manager for Fremantle City Dockers Under 10s, and making regular donations to Sea Shepherd and the Red Cross.
