Dr. Constantinos Yiallourides is a Senior Lecturer (tenured Associate Professor) in the Macquarie Law School at Macquarie University, where he also serves as Deputy Director of the Centre of Environmental Law and co-lead of the Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage (CCUS) Stream within the Transforming Energy Markets Research Centre. He holds the position of Senior Research Fellow in Law of the Sea at the British Institute of International and Comparative Law (BIICL), leading the Institute's research, training, and events on the law of the sea and energy law. Prior to his current roles, Dr. Yiallourides was a tenured Lecturer in International Law at the University of Aberdeen in Scotland, a Postdoctoral Researcher in Energy Law and Public Policy at the University of Tokyo, and a Visiting Researcher at Waseda University in Tokyo and the University of Hamburg in Germany. In 2026, he was appointed the Australia-Korea Foundation Visiting Professor of Australian Studies at Seoul National University's Graduate School of International Studies.
Dr. Yiallourides' research specializations encompass the law of territory, the law of the sea, environmental and natural resources law, and the peaceful settlement of international disputes. His work has received funding from prestigious organizations including the UK Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC), the British Academy, the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS), UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). He has provided expert advice to governments, international organizations, and other entities on various international law issues. Among his accolades are the International Law Association 2021 Scholarship Award, Honorary Lecturer in International Law (2021), AHRC Doctoral Partnership Award (2013), Academic Excellence Award (2011), and A.G. Leventis Scholarship Award (2012). Key publications include the books Maritime Disputes and International Law: Disputed Waters and Seabed Resources in Asia and Europe (Routledge, 2019) and International Fisheries Law: Persistent and Emerging Challenges (Routledge, 2025, co-authored with Prof. Bjørn Kunoy and Judge Tomas Heidar), as well as articles such as 'Cross-Border CO2 Transport and Storage Networks in Europe' (Ocean Development & International Law, 2026), 'Law of the Sea, Climate Change and State Responsibility' (Max Planck Yearbook of United Nations Law, 2025), and 'Maritime Boundaries in the Energy Transition: Carbon Dioxide (CO2) Storage' (Journal of Energy & Natural Resources Law, 2024). He co-edits the ICLQ Forum on the Law of the Sea in the International and Comparative Law Quarterly.
