Dr Connal Lee serves as a Lecturer in Public Health at the School of Public Health, College of Health, Adelaide University. A philosopher and ethicist, he possesses a keen interest in critical reasoning, health, and the arts. Lee primarily teaches practical ethics, emphasizing professional practice and critical thinking skills. His teaching portfolio encompasses a range of courses such as HLTH 3086 Public Health Ethics, HLTH 5000 Health Ethics, REHB 4034 Ethics and Communication, REHB 4035 Health Promotion in Physiotherapy B, HLTH 1063 Aboriginal Health: Culture, Community and Country, and HLTH 2041 Science and Politics of Preventive Health, offered in recent years including 2024 and 2025.
Lee earned his PhD from Flinders University in 2014. His research specializations include the ethics of pandemic planning, the interplay between art experiences and well-being promotion—with a particular focus on community art galleries serving as spaces for connectedness and social resources—and bioethics, specifically the relevance of vulnerability as an ethical concept in allied health practices. He has also investigated narratives in philosophy.
Throughout his career, Lee has contributed to academic discourse through peer-reviewed publications. Notable works include: Lee, C. J., & Northcott, S. J. (2021). Previously associated with Flinders University and the University of South Australia, Lee is eligible to co-supervise postgraduate students at Masters and PhD levels at Adelaide University.
