About Chuanlang

Chuanlang Zhan is a Professor in the College of Chemistry and Environmental Science at Inner Mongolia Normal University, where he serves as Director of the Key Laboratory of Excitonic Materials Chemistry and Devices. He earned his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Inorganic Chemistry from Jilin University in 1991 and 1994, respectively, followed by a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the Institute of Photographic Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), in 2000. His career includes postdoctoral fellowships at the Institute of Chemistry, CAS (2000–2002), Panum Institute, University of Copenhagen (2005–2006), and a visiting scholarship at the Institute Européen de Chimie et Biologie (2004–2005). From 2002 to 2019, he held positions as Associate Professor and Professor at the Institute of Chemistry, CAS, before joining Inner Mongolia Normal University as Professor in 2020.

Professor Zhan's research specializes in excitonic materials chemistry and devices, encompassing the synthesis and precise preparation of functional molecular materials, photovoltaic materials and solar cell devices, self-assembly and chirality, and multi-photon absorption and nonlinear optics. He has led eight projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, one from the Ministry of Science and Technology, two from the Department of Science and Technology of Inner Mongolia, and one from Inner Mongolia Normal University. His accolades include the 2016 Outstanding Science and Technology Achievement Prize of the Chinese Academy of Sciences as a major contributor and the 2020 Grassland Talents award. Key publications include 'Lanthanide MOFs for Inducing Molecular Chirality of Achiral Stilbazolium with Strong Circularly Polarized Luminescence' (Chem. Sci., 2020), 'Phthalimide Polymer Donor Guests Enables over 17% Efficient Organic Solar Cells' (Adv. Energy Mater., 2020), '16.7%-Efficiency Ternary Blended Organic Photovoltaic Cells' (J. Mater. Chem. A, 2019), 'Ternary Blended Fullerene-Free Polymer Solar Cells with 16.5%-Efficiency' (Adv. Energy Mater., 2019), 'More than Conformational “Twisting” or “Coplanarity”: Molecular Strategies for Designing High-efficiency Non-fullerene Organic Solar Cells' (Chem. Mater., 2016), and 'A Potential Perylene Diimide Dimer-Based Acceptor Material for Highly Efficient Solution-Processed Non-Fullerene Organic Solar Cells' (Adv. Mater., 2013). As of 2020, he had authored 137 publications cited 4347 times with an H-index of 36, including five ESI highly cited papers and three hot papers.
