About Catherine

Catherine Sutton-Brady is an Associate Professor of Marketing in the University of Sydney Business School, where she serves as Deputy Head of Discipline (Education) in the Discipline of Marketing. She holds a BCom (Hons) and MBS from the National University of Ireland, and a PhD from the University of Western Sydney. Catherine began her career in industry before joining academia as a Lecturer in the School of Business at Western Sydney University from 1995 to 2003. She then moved to the University of Sydney Business School, advancing to her current associate professorship.

Her research specializations include business-to-business marketing, relationships and networks, strategic marketing, international marketing, supply chain management, sustainable consumption, social media adoption in B2B contexts, private label brands, and supplier-retailer power asymmetry. She has also contributed significantly to marketing education, exploring innovations such as short-format podcasts and teaching adaptations during the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2006, she was awarded the Pearson Education ANZMAC Marketing Educator of the Year Award for her teaching excellence.
