Rate My Professor Catherine Crabb

Dr. Catherine Crabb is the Head of Division for Podiatric Medicine and Surgery in the School of Health and Clinical Sciences at the University of Western Australia. She holds the position of Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) Program Coordinator and serves as Co-Acting Head of the Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Department. Additionally, she functions as a Senior Lecturer, teaching across all year levels in the postgraduate Podiatric Medicine units since joining the program in 2018. Crabb maintains a clinical practice as a podiatrist in private practice, focusing on primary and musculoskeletal podiatric medicine, which emphasizes preventative care, point-of-care diagnosis, and treatment. She also acts as the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Contact Officer for the School of Allied Health (Podiatry).

Crabb earned her Bachelor of Science in Anatomy, Human Biology, and Physiology from the University of Western Australia, a Master of Environmental Science/Engineering from the University of New England, a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine with Distinction from the University of Western Australia, and a Graduate Certificate in Tertiary Teaching from the University of Western Australia in 2024. Her research interests include assessing the reliability and validity of imaging techniques, clinical tools, and devices; forefoot deformation and peak plantar pressures during gait; aged care; and diversity and disabilities in tertiary education and podiatry practice. Further research focuses encompass podiatric medicine education, primary care, and geriatric care. In her clinical work, she has special interests in geriatric care, diabetes education, paediatrics, disabilities, and chronic and sports injury management, where she develops comprehensive short- and long-term treatment plans to optimize function and reduce pain. Crabb has received notable awards, including the SFHEA Fellowship in 2025, UWA Student Choice Awards on 2 July 2019 and 7 December 2018, and the Podiatry WA Prize on 6 August 2018.
