Catherine D. Boles, R.D.H., M.S., serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Periodontics at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene from UMKC in 2005 and her Master of Science in Dental Hygiene Education in 2008. Boles has established herself as a dedicated educator and leader within the field of dentistry, particularly in dental hygiene education. Her professional credentials as a Registered Dental Hygienist underscore her practical expertise, which she brings to her academic role. Throughout her tenure at UMKC, she has focused on contributing to the training and development of future dental professionals in periodontics and related areas.
Boles is a committed member of several prestigious organizations, including the American Dental Hygienists' Association (ADHA), the American Dental Education Association (ADEA), Sigma Phi Alpha, and the Junior League of Kansas City, Missouri. She has held significant leadership positions, such as Local Chapter President and National President of Sigma Phi Alpha. Within the UMKC community, she served as Past President of the UMKC Dental Hygienists Alumni Association and currently acts as Treasurer for the 2024-2025 term while holding a three-year term on the Board of Directors. She is also a board member for multiple organizations and participates in the 2025-2026 cohort of the UMKC Leadership Development Program. In 2023, Boles was honored with the Elmer F. Pierson Good Teaching Award, recognizing her outstanding contributions to teaching and student success at UMKC.
