Caitlyn Ireland is a Lecturer in the College of Nursing at South Dakota State University, serving on the Rapid City campus. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from the University of North Dakota, complemented by certification as a Nurse Educator (CNE). Ireland's clinical career spans over fifteen years, beginning as a labor and delivery nurse in 2009. She has gained extensive experience through travel nursing roles in diverse healthcare settings, including rural facilities and larger urban hospitals across North Dakota and Minnesota. This background has honed her expertise in women's health patient care, providing a strong foundation for her transition to nursing education.
In her academic capacity, Ireland holds the position of Semester One Coordinator and teaches key courses such as NURS 347, NURS 437, NURS 434, NURS 444 and 444L, while also serving as clinical faculty for NURS 435. Her academic interests focus on women's health, health promotion, nursing professional development, and nursing student education. Actively contributing to faculty governance, she chairs the Committee on Faculty and serves on the Welfare and Development Subcommittee within the College of Nursing Faculty Assembly. Ireland co-authored the peer-reviewed article 'Shared Governance Through Bylaws: Transformation Within a College of Nursing,' published in the Journal of Nursing Education (May 2024, Volume 63, Issue 5, pages 277-281).
