Brent Hathaway, Ph.D., serves as the Ted & Doris Lee Professor of Business and Professor in the Department of Business at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) Lee Business School, a key institution in Business & Economics education. He earned his Ph.D. in Business Administration from the University of Illinois, a Master of Science in Agricultural Economics from Purdue University, and a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics from Utah State University. Before entering academia, Hathaway amassed extensive executive experience in the private sector. He held the position of Vice President of Marketing and Sales for aerospace services at Honeywell International, Director of Marketing for agricultural equipment at Case Corporation, President and General Manager at Concord, Inc., and Principal and Director of Prism Consulting, a firm focused on technology, industrial manufacturing, and business services.
Hathaway joined UNLV in 2013 as Dean of the Lee Business School, later transitioning to his current faculty role as professor and endowed chair. Prior to UNLV, he was Dean of the University of Wyoming College of Business for nine years from 2004 to 2013, where he also served as interim dean and chair of the management and marketing department. During his tenure at Wyoming, he co-founded the Wyoming Business Leadership Institute, launched an online executive MBA program, established a college-based career center, strengthened graduate programs emphasizing energy and sustainability, and successfully raised more than $50 million for facility enhancements. Hathaway has published and presented widely on topics including entrepreneurship, leadership, business sustainability, ethics, and the economy. His recognized expertise encompasses leadership, corporate governance, and business ethics, contributing to advancements in Business & Economics scholarship and practice.
