About Anusha

Anusha Vaddi serves as Assistant Professor in the Department of Oral Diagnostic Sciences at the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry. She obtained her Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from Government Dental College and Hospital in India in 2011 and Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) from Narayana Dental College and Hospital in India in 2015. She completed her residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology, earning both a Certificate in Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology and Master of Dental Science (MDSc) from the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine in 2022. Following her training, she joined VCU in 2022 in her current faculty role. Dr. Vaddi is a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology and a member of the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology. She also serves on the VCU Libraries Advisory Committee.

Dr. Vaddi's research interests encompass oral and maxillofacial radiology, oral medicine, oral cancer, cone beam computed tomography, and advanced diagnostic technologies including Raman spectroscopy and artificial intelligence applications. Her contributions to the literature include co-authorship on multiple systematic reviews forming part of the Multinational Association of Supportive Care in Cancer/International Society of Oral Oncology (MASCC/ISOO) clinical practice guidelines for managing oral mucositis in cancer patients, published in Supportive Care in Cancer between 2019 and 2020. Notable works include 'Systematic review of photobiomodulation for the management of oral mucositis in cancer patients and clinical practice guidelines' (2019, cited 433 times), 'Systematic review of basic oral care for the management of oral mucositis in cancer patients and clinical practice guidelines' (2019, cited 390 times), 'Systematic review of oral cryotherapy for the management of oral mucositis in cancer patients and clinical practice guidelines' (2020, cited 132 times), and others addressing anti-inflammatory agents, natural agents, growth factors, cytokines, antimicrobials, mucosal coating agents, anesthetics, analgesics, and gastrointestinal mucositis. Rollins Award for research at the Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology annual meeting and was named a top dentist in Richmond magazine for oral cancer and other oral conditions and diseases in 2025. She has presented at events including the 2025 ADEA Annual Session on the efficacy of hands-on CBCT workshops.
