About Anne

Anne Storset is a Professor in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU), which incorporates the former Norwegian College of Veterinary Medicine. She served as Dean of the Faculty for two terms until early 2025. Throughout her career at the institution, she has been affiliated with several departments, including the Department of Pharmacology, Microbiology and Food Hygiene, the Department of Food Safety and Infection Biology, and the Department of Preclinical Sciences and Pathology. As Dean, she was also secretary of the Faculty Board and involved in strategic research committees.

Storset's research contributions are in veterinary immunology and infectious diseases affecting ruminants. Her work has examined natural killer (NK) cells, immune responses to pathogens such as caprine arthritis-encephalitis virus (CAEV) and Mycobacterium avium paratuberculosis, and related mechanisms in goats and cattle. Key publications include 'Subclinical paratuberculosis in goats following experimental infection with Mycobacterium avium paratuberculosis' (Veterinary Microbiology, 2001), 'Natural killer cell receptors in cattle: a bovine killer cell immunoglobulin-like receptor multigene family' (European Journal of Immunology, 2003), 'Bovine CD2−/NKp46+ cells are fully functional natural killer cells with a distinct transcript profile' (BMC Immunology, 2006), 'Characterization of Norwegian isolates of Caprine arthritis encephalitis virus' (Journal of General Virology, 2006), and 'The protozoan Neospora caninum directly triggers bovine NK cells to produce gamma interferon and proliferate' (Infection and Immunity, 2006). These publications have advanced understanding of innate immunity in livestock and garnered significant citations in the field.
