Dr Anna Grinberg is Piano Performance Fellow and Lecturer at the School of Music, University of Queensland. She serves as Bachelor of Music Program Convenor, Integrity Officer, Instrument Teacher in Piano, and Head of Piano. Grinberg holds a PhD from the University of Queensland, awarded in 2017 for her thesis titled Touch Divided: artistic research in duo piano performance. She also possesses a Doctoral Diploma of Musical Arts from the State University of New York, with postgraduate studies completed at Yale University under Boris Berman and at SUNY Stony Brook under Gil Kalish. Prior to her appointment at UQ, she held positions on the piano faculties of Chapman University and California Institute of the Arts in the United States.
Grinberg maintains an international profile as a pianist, particularly through her work with the Viney-Grinberg Duo, with whom she has performed extensively across Australia, the United States, United Kingdom, and Canada. Notable performances include world premieres at the Queensland Music Festival, Canberra International Music Festival, Australian Piano Duo Festival, and Jacaranda: Music at the Edge. The duo collaborated with Queensland Ballet on Sonata for Piano 4 Hands, Dance Dialogues in 2015 and has appeared in UQ School of Music concert series, such as virtual concerts in 2020 featuring works by Henze, Pärt, Beethoven, Elgar, and others. Their recordings encompass The Art of Agony (Naxos, 2020), Diamond Morning (Tall Poppies Records, 2019), Invisible Dances (ABC Classics, 2018), Four Hands: Australian Music for Piano (ABC Classics, 2016), and contributions to New Music for Multiple Keyboards (2016). She co-authored the book chapter 'Collaboration in duo piano performance: "Piano Spheres"' (2014). The Viney-Grinberg Duo received a nomination for an Australian Music Centre/APRA Award for Excellence. At UQ, Grinberg supervises Doctor of Philosophy and Master's students in areas such as instrumental performance, harpsichord adaptation, and composition, having served as principal or associate advisor on several completed theses. She contributes to public performances, including the UQ Chamber Players Concert Series in 2025.
