Dr. Animesh Sarkar is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Horticulture at Nagaland University, Medziphema Campus. He joined the university in 2012.
His research focuses on fruit science, including studies on biodiversity, ethnobotanical uses, and physicochemical properties of underutilized fruits in Nagaland, as well as crop regulation, propagation, and management practices for fruits such as guava, litchi, mango, and strawberry.
Nagaland University's study on wild Sikkim banana (Musa sikkimensis) highlights morphological diversity and adaptive traits promising for climate-resilient breeding and Northeast India's food security.
