Dr. Angelo Gaitas is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where he also holds an affiliation with the Center for Biomedical Engineering and Science. He joined the university in September 2025. His academic background includes a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands in 2013, an M.B.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2002, an M.S. in Nanotechnology Research/Physics from the University of London – Royal Holloway College in 1998, and a B.S. in Physics and Mathematics from the University of Wales – Swansea in 1997.
Dr. Gaitas’s research focuses on advanced fabrication and characterization techniques, mechanobiology, Bio-MEMS and bioinstrumentation, microfluidics and microfabrication, advanced microscopy including Bio-AFM, translational devices and diagnostics for biomedical applications, biomedical engineering, and iPSC and tissue engineering.
