Rate My Professor André Rolim Baby

André Rolim Baby is a Pharmacist and Biochemist who earned his doctorate in Drugs and Medicines from the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of São Paulo (FCF-USP). He serves as Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacy at FCF-USP, where he has more than 18 years of experience in teaching, graduate supervision, and research in Cosmetic Science. His work encompasses undergraduate and postgraduate education as well as scientific investigation, with over 130 peer-reviewed articles published in national and international journals.

Baby received an Honorable Mention in the 2008 CAPES Thesis Award for his doctoral thesis titled “Avaliação in vitro da permeabilidade cutânea da rutina em emulsões cosméticas.” He completed postdoctoral training at the Universidade Lusófona de Humanidades e Tecnologias in the CBIOS research center. He is Scientific Director of the Fundação Instituto de Pesquisas Farmacêuticas (FIPFARMA) and has secured 19 FAPESP grants for research projects, scientific initiation scholarships, master’s and doctoral fellowships, and overseas research internships. He has also received CNPq support through the Universal program and grants for participation in international scientific meetings. To date, he has supervised 11 master’s students and eight doctoral students to completion. His primary research activities focus on photoprotection, non-sunscreen actives, nanotechnology applied to sunscreen formulations, ex vivo cutaneous antioxidant potential, and the safety and efficacy of cosmetic products related to solar protection and other attributes.
