Amber Russell serves as Schools' Liaison Officer at the University of Otago, based in the Auckland office within the External Engagement division. She engages with secondary schools across the region to promote the university's academic programs, scholarships, entrance requirements, and campus life. Her outreach activities include organizing information sessions, school visits, and contributing to recruitment efforts featured in university prospectuses and events. In addition to her liaison duties, Amber Russell works as a Community Support Coordinator for University Flats, where she provides pastoral care and support to students residing in university accommodation. Demonstrating remarkable personal achievement, following open heart surgery in August 2017, Russell returned to fitness through powerlifting. In March 2019, at age 26, she competed for New Zealand at the Asia Pacific Power Lifting and Bench Press Championships, winning gold in the Classic Women’s Open Bench Press category, establishing a new Oceania record with a lift of 102.5 kilograms, and receiving the best overall lifter award after dominating her class.
