Dr Amal Osman is a Research Fellow in the College of Medicine and Public Health at Flinders University. She holds an appointment as Research Associate at the Adelaide Institute for Sleep Health within the Flinders Health and Medical Research Institute. Her research centres on obstructive sleep apnoea, with a focus on developing simple clinical tools to measure upper airway collapsibility and investigating mechanisms that contribute to airway closure during sleep.
Dr Osman contributes to studies exploring novel treatments, including hypoglossal nerve stimulation and pharmacological approaches such as TASK channel antagonists. She participates in projects examining pulse oximeter performance across populations and endotype-informed therapies for sleep apnoea. Her work supports the translation of physiological insights into targeted clinical interventions for sleep-disordered breathing.
