Dr. Alyson Crozier is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Allied Health and Human Performance within the College of Health at Adelaide University. She holds a PhD from the University of Saskatchewan, Canada (2011–2015), a Master of Human Kinetics from the University of Windsor, Canada (2009–2011), and a Bachelor of Human Kinetics from the University of Windsor (2005–2009). Her career includes serving as Senior Lecturer at the University of South Australia from 2021 to 2025 and Lecturer there from 2016 to 2020. Additionally, she worked as Principal Project Officer for Physical Activity at Wellbeing SA from 2021 to 2022. Alyson has collaborated with local councils and not-for-profit health agencies to deliver community programs enhancing physical and mental well-being. She is eligible to supervise Masters and PhD students.
Alyson's research centers on promoting physical activity at the population level, exploring psychosocial factors influencing motivation to be active, and leveraging sport for positive physical and mental health outcomes. Her interests encompass the psychology of physical activity, sport psychology focusing on group dynamics and athlete well-being, health promotion, and health psychology. Key publications include 'Examining the relationship between different physical activities and health and well-being in middle-aged and older men: An isotemporal substitution analysis' (Blake et al., BMJ Open Sport and Exercise Medicine, 2024), 'Beyond the finish line: Exploring factors influencing running maintenance among current and discontinued recreational runners' (Blacket et al., Sport, Exercise and Performance Psychology, 2026), 'Walking sports and subjective wellbeing in older adults: a comparative study' (Paranjape et al., Translational Exercise Biomedicine, 2025), and 'Competitive athletes' psychological and emotional experiences of injury rehabilitation: a scoping review' (Jaekel et al., Systematic Reviews, 2025). She received the Rising Star 2020 award from The Educator's Higher Education Australia. Her work supports implementation and evaluation of health initiatives with community groups, councils, sport organizations, and health agencies, spanning topics like outdoor fitness equipment, behavior change campaigns, athlete wellbeing, and parent/spectator behaviors in sport.
