Allan Zebedee is an Associate Professor of Finance in the Economics and Financial Studies department within Clarkson University's Reh School of Business, a position he has held since 2010, following his tenure as Assistant Professor of Finance there from 2007 to 2010. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics cum laude with distinction in the major from Colby College in 1990, a Master of Arts in Economics with primary fields in finance and macroeconomics from the University of California, San Diego in 1997, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Economics from the same institution in 2001. Prior to Clarkson, Zebedee served as Assistant Professor of Finance at San Diego State University from 2001 to 2007, Visiting Economic Fellow at the United States Securities and Exchange Commission Office of Economic Analysis from 2005 to 2006, Visiting Assistant Professor at Case Western Reserve University's Department of Banking and Finance from 2000 to 2001, and Lecturer at Georgetown University's Department of Economics in 2000. He has also held visiting professorships at the University of California, San Diego Rady School of Management and the University of San Diego in 2011, as well as a special-term professorship at Hunan University's Center for Economics, Finance and Management Studies from 2015 to 2020.
Zebedee's research focuses on corporate finance issues, including initial public offerings, share repurchase programs, stock splits, and secondary market activity for syndicated loans, alongside macroeconomics, corporate disclosure, monetary policy, stock market volatility, gender composition in management, liquidity in financial markets, corporate governance, and market microstructure. Notable publications include “Hear Me Write: Does CEO Narcissism Affect Disclosure?” with Gilberto Marquez-Illescas and Linying Zhou in the Journal of Business Ethics (2019), “Business Cycles and Gender Diversification: An Analysis of Staffing Patterns by Industry and Firm Size” with Cynthia Bansak and Mary Graham in the American Economic Review (2012), “In and Out-of-the-Money Convertible Bond Calls: Signal or Price Pressure?” with Ken Bechmann and Asger Lunde in the Journal of Corporate Finance (2014), and “Do Banks Price Expected Liquidity in Syndicated Loans?” with Anurag Gupta and Ajai K. Singh in the Journal of Financial Markets (2008). His scholarly contributions have earned awards such as Clarkson University's Provost Fellow in 2021, a Fulbright Grant to the University of Roehampton in 2013, the Financial Markets and Portfolio Management Best Paper of the Year Award in 2008, and Clarkson Dean’s Summer Research Grant in 2010. Zebedee serves as co-editor of the Eastern Economic Journal since 2015 and Faculty Advisor for the Clarkson Strategic Investments Group since 2007, while contributing extensively to university committees including search committee chairs, faculty development, and investment subcommittees.
