Ms Alice Standfield serves as a Lecturer in Occupational Therapy within the School of Allied Health and Human Performance, College of Health, at Adelaide University, where she began her appointment in 2026. She earned her Master of Philosophy from Adelaide University in 2025 and her Bachelor of Occupational Therapy from the University of South Australia between 2012 and 2016. Previously, she held the position of Lecturer in Occupational Therapy at the University of South Australia from 2023 to 2025. Living and working on the traditional lands of the Kaurna People, Ms Standfield has built a robust clinical career specializing in mental health, with current endorsement from Occupational Therapy Australia. Her training extends to Schema Therapy and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, emphasizing evidence-based interventions for individuals experiencing social, emotional, and psychological difficulties.
Ms Standfield's extensive experience includes practice in hospital-based sub-acute rehabilitation, palliative care, and orthopaedic services; correctional facilities aiding rehabilitation and community reintegration; private community mental health services for clients aged 13 to 65; and NGOs supporting National Disability Insurance Scheme participants. A staunch advocate for Trauma Informed Care, she promotes equitable, high-quality services at both individual and systemic levels. Her research interests span allied health and rehabilitation science, applied and developmental psychology, clinical and health psychology, cultural responsiveness in working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, digital health, forensic psychology, health promotion, occupational therapy, psychosocial aspects of childbirth and perinatal mental health, and teacher and student wellbeing. In education, she delivers courses including REHB 2044 Therapeutic Communication and Group Work, REHB 2045 Occupational Therapy Practice and Mental Health, REHB 5107 Enabling Occupation 3, BEHL 2002 The Individual in Society 200, and REHB 3060 Advanced Community Occupational Therapy Practice and Chronic Conditions Management. Her key publication is the book Mental and physical health dimensions (2025), co-authored with Paul Cooper and Raymond Tini, published via Flinders University and the University of South Australia.
