About Akira

Akira Nissaka is an Associate Professor in the Business Major within the Faculty of Human Culture at Aikoku Gakuen University. He earned a Bachelor of Agriculture from the University of Tokyo in 2001. His primary academic specialty is agricultural informatics, focusing on the general utilization of information and communication technology (ICT), its applications in agriculture including smart agriculture, e-learning, and research on websites, electronic commerce, and electronic books. Prior to academia, Nissaka worked at CAC Corporation from 1999 to 2004 and as a sole proprietor from 2004 to 2009, handling IT education, system construction, support services, and marketing. He joined Aikoku Gakuen University as a lecturer in the Faculty of Human Culture in April 2011, advancing to associate professor, and has concurrently served as a joint agricultural researcher at the Graduate School of Agricultural and Life Sciences, University of Tokyo since June 2011.

Nissaka's scholarly contributions include the solo-authored bachelor's thesis 'Development of Plant Growth Simulation Execution System Using WWW' (2001); the co-authored paper '3D Modeling of Reservoirs and Water Volume Estimation Using Portable Lidar Data' published in the Journal of the Japanese Society of Agricultural Machinery (2011, vol. 79, no. 3, pp. 191-194); 'Damage to Cultural Properties in Northern Kanto from the Great East Japan Earthquake and Townscape Preservation Efforts: The Case of Sawara Important Traditional Buildings Preservation District' in Aikoku Gakuen University Human and Cultural Sciences Research Bulletin (2014, no. 16, pp. 61-77, co-authored with Mizue Watanabe, So Nakamura, and Takemi Machida); and 'Smart Agriculture Brought by the Fourth Industrial Revolution' in the same journal (2019). He delivers courses such as PBL Exercise, Career Design II, Introduction to Information Science, Programming Basics, Web Design Exercise, Introduction to Information Security, Information Mathematics, and Graduation Research Exercise in the Information Science field. Nissaka is a member of the Japanese Society for Agricultural Informatics and the Japanese Society of Agricultural and Rural Engineering. He participates in university committees including FD, employment, ICT, admissions promotion, and student affairs, and delivers public lectures on topics like artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, IoT, and web technologies at citizen universities, high schools, and open campuses.
