Professor Ts. Dr. Aida Mustapha is a Professor in the Faculty of Computing at Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), appointed effective 4 June 2024 for a two-year term until 3 June 2026. She obtained her B.Sc. in Computer Science from Michigan Technological University in 1999, Master of Computer Science from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia in 2004, and Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence from Universiti Putra Malaysia in 2008. Prior to UMPSA, she served ten years at Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia, including as Dean of the Faculty of Applied Science and Technology, Director of the Industry and Community Relations Centre, Deputy Director (Strategy and Development) at the Research Management Centre, Deputy Director (Grant Management Research) at the Research Management Centre, and Deputy Dean of the Office of Research Management, Consultancy, Commercialization and Innovation.
Prof. Mustapha's research specializations encompass soft computing, data mining, computational linguistics, software agents, and artificial intelligence, with a focus on natural language processing applied to holy texts such as the Quran. She has published over 450 refereed publications, including key works like "Data quality: A survey of data quality dimensions" (2012), "Crossover and Mutation Operators of Genetic Algorithms" (2017), "Comprehensive review of artificial intelligence and statistical approaches in distributed denial of service attack and defense methods" (2019), "Examining multiple feature evaluation and classification methods for improving the diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease" (2019), and "Deep fake detection and classification using error-level analysis and deep learning" (2023). She serves as Chief Editor of the Journal of Quranic Sciences and Research and lead trainer for Akademi Intelek dan Data Analitik (AI.DA), delivering data and AI certification programs. Her roles include memberships in ISO/TC 204 Intelligent Transport Systems, Malaysia Board of Technologists, Malaysia Association of Research Managers and Administrators, and International Association of Counsellors and Therapists. A Microsoft Certified and HRD Accredited Trainer, she drives research innovation at UMPSA.
