Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, Ph.D., serves as a Trustee on the Board of Trustees at Grameen University and holds the position of Professor of Operations Management and Quantitative Analysis in the School of Business and Economics at North South University (NSU), Bangladesh, where he is also Vice-Chancellor since September 2024. He possesses extensive academic credentials, including a Post-Doctorate from the University of Calgary, Canada (2002, focusing on industrial statistics and product/service quality improvement), Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from Northeastern University, USA (1999, thesis on analysis of censored life test data and robust design for reliability improvement), M.S. in Operations Research from Northeastern University (1996), M.Sc. in Statistics from Jahangirnagar University, Bangladesh (1987, first class, 4th position), and B.Sc. (Hons.) in Statistics from the same university (1986, first class, 6th position). His career encompasses over 35 years of teaching, research, and leadership across institutions in Bangladesh, Canada, USA, and China, including faculty roles at the University of Windsor (2002-2005), University of Calgary (2001-2002), Northeastern University (1999-2001), and Islamic University, Bangladesh (1988-1994).
At NSU, Chowdhury has held key appointments such as Dean of the School of Business and Economics (2010-2013 and 2020-2022), Executive Director of External Relations (2014), Director of the BBA Program (2007-2012), and Director of Career and Professional Development Services (2005-2012), where he supervised program operations, faculty recruitment, curriculum development, accreditation efforts for AACSB and others, industry collaborations, and internationalization initiatives. He previously served as Vice-Chancellor of Primeasia University (2017-2020) and Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Eastern University (2014-2017). Additionally, he chairs the Board of Directors of Grameen Bank since September 2024. His research specializations include operations management, quantitative analysis, business statistics, total quality management, and social business, with collaboration alongside Nobel Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus since 2010 to promote social business globally through conferences, seminars, and events.
