Dr. A. Samson Nesaraj serves as Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Director (Student Affairs) at Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education since 2022. His prior appointments at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences, Coimbatore, include Professor from 2014 to 2022, Associate Professor from 2008 to 2014, Assistant Professor from 2005 to 2008, and Lecturer on Senior Scale from 2003 to 2005. Earlier in his career, he held the position of Lecturer on Senior Scale at Sona College of Technology from 1999 to 2002 and worked at CSIR-Central Electrochemical Research Institute as Research Fellow from 1998 to 1999 and Project Assistant from 1996 to 1998.
He obtained his Ph.D. in 2004 from Alagappa University, M.Sc. in Chemistry in 1996 from Alagappa University, and B.Sc. in 1994 from Madurai Kamaraj University, along with a P.G.D.B.A. in 1998 from Annamalai University. Dr. Nesaraj specializes in nanomaterials chemistry, with a focus on nano-structured perovskite and spinel-based materials for environmental remediation and energy storage applications, as well as solid oxide fuel cells. He has published 161 works, accumulating 1348 citations and an h-index of 19 on Scopus. Notable publications include 'Reflux condensation synthesis and characterization of Co3O4 nanoparticles for photocatalytic applications' (2014), 'Hydrothermal synthesis of Co, Cu dual doped CeO2 based nanomaterials for electrochemical applications' (2025), 'Wet-Chemical Synthesis and Physico/Electrochemical Studies of NiO Nanoparticles' (2021), and 'One pot chemical synthesis of ultrafine NiAl2O4 nanoparticles: physico-chemical properties and photocatalytic degradation' (2020). As Principal Investigator, he leads projects such as the Central Power Research Institute initiative and a Tamil Nadu State Council for Science and Technology-funded study on lithium garnet materials for lithium-ion batteries. His accolades encompass the Outstanding Scientist Award (2023) from Scifax Information and Analytics Private Limited, Virtue Award (2024) from Tamil Mandram, and Achiever Award (2021-2022) from Karunya Institute for achieving an h-index of 13. Dr. Nesaraj supervises Ph.D. theses on topics like transition metal doped ZnO nanocrystals for environmental remediation and holds memberships in university committees including the Staff Council and School Research Committee.
