POSITION DESCRIPTION
The University of California, San Diego, Division of Gastroenterology in the Department of Medicine is recruiting a Postdoctoral Researcher to join our newly funded NIH-NIAAA project. Our work focuses on the study of the exciting role of intestinal homeostasis including the intestinal epithelium, microbiome and immune system interactions and its influence in liver disease. The proposed study will characterize this gut-liver axis in preclinical models of liver disease and in patients with liver disease using cutting edge microbiomics and state-of-the-art technology. We aim to find innovative strategies to prevent liver disease in patients. In our laboratory we study factors that mediate chronic liver diseases. In addition, we focus on microbial factors that promote liver injury and chronic liver diseases and the consequences of intestinal dysbiosis on host biology. We specifically are interested in the enteric microbiome, metagenome and transcriptome...
