The department of Physics at Princeton seeks applicants for a research software engineer to work on the Simons Observatory (SO) project. SO is a millimeter-wave survey experiment currently being built for observations from the Atacama Desert in Chile, with a variety of scientific goals from probing the early universe to detecting millimeter-wave transients. The SO data analysis group at Princeton, led by Simone Aiola and Jo Dunkley, shares responsibility for producing and delivering sky maps and light curves for scientific analysis. The position will involve working with the SO Data Management team on topics including automation of the SO pipeline on HPC systems, algorithm development for optimization of research software, packaging and deployment of research software, and aspects of internal and public delivery of the SO data and software.
