Visiting Fellow
Princeton University Princeton, NJ, USA
Princeton University Visiting Fellows in Space Physics Program The Space Physics at Princeton Group (https://spacephysics.princeton.edu/) in the Department of Astrophysical Sciences is pleased to offer Visiting Fellow positions. The program supports faculty and equivalent senior researchers to do intensive research in residence at Princeton for periods from one month up to a full year. Visiting Fellows will work closely with Space Physics at Princeton Group members on one or more of several topical areas: 1) Energetic Particles observations from Parker Solar Probe, 2) Energetic Neutral Atom and/or Interstellar Neutral Atom observations from the Interstellar Boundary Explorer (IBEX), and 3) scientific preparations for the Interstellar Mapping and Acceleration Probe (IMAP). The environment is scientifically intense, highly collaborative, and extremely rewarding. The goal of the program is to strengthen the Group with new and diverse perspectives while carrying out world-class...

Software position with the HATPI project
Princeton University Princeton, NJ, USA
We invite applications for a software specialist in the Department of Astrophysical Sciences at Princeton University. The successful applicant will work with Prof. Gáspár Bakos, Dr. Joel Hartman, and a team of researchers, including graduate students, on the operation of and data reduction for HATPI, an ultra-wide field optical time-domain instrument being commissioned at Las Campanas Observatory in Chile. The HATPI instrument uses 64 wide-field lenses and cameras to simultaneously observe one fourth of the celestial sphere at a fast cadence and high photometric precision. Science topics to be explored with the instrument include transiting exoplanets, variable stars, transient phenomena and moving objects. The data reduction products, including high-cadence high-precision light curves for millions of stars, are to be made public. Applicants should have knowledge of handling of large data sets and efficient automated data reduction. Some knowledge of optical...

Post-Doctoral Associate in the Division of Science (Physics - Astrophysics: Accretion and Jets) - Dr. Dave Russell
New York University (NYU) New York, NY, USA
Description New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) is currently inviting applications for a Post-Doctoral Associate in Astrophysics, in the Center for Astro, Particle, and Planetary Physics (CAP3). The position is offered for a period of 2 years (1 year with an additional year depending on performance). Competitive salary and benefits, including relocation, housing, home visits and educational subsidies for children, are offered. The current postdoctoral position is with Principal Investigator (PI) Associate Professor Dave Russell in the area of accretion onto compact objects. Stellar-mass black holes residing in X-ray binaries (XBs) produce the most powerful jets in our galaxy via accretion from an orbiting companion star. Studies of XBs are now revealing how jets evolve with mass accretion rate and the mode of accretion, providing insights into the conditions required to launch jets. The main objective of the research program of the PI is to uncover the nature of...
