The Opportunity: This Research Associate position will contribute to the technical development of methods of firebrand hazard quantification in the above project. Firebrands present a significant hazard to communities in wildfire prone areas. This project will seek to characterise the generation and transport of firebrands to better understand the hazard.  This will include laboratory and field based practical work. The project has a number of external contributors and will involve working with colleagues at the US Forest Service. Laboratory work will be undertaken in the Rushbrook Fire Laboratory at the University of Edinburgh. Travel to the USA is expected for project meetings and fieldwork opportunities. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate skills in experimental fire science, solid combustion, fluid mechanics or heat transfer. They will also be able to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team both within the project and the Fire Group at...
