The post is funded by The Faraday Institution and is fixed-term to 31 March 2025. The post holder will be required to carry out research on battery safety as part of the Faraday Institution project SAFEBATT, led by Principal Investigator Professor Paul Shearing. Begbroke Science Park We are seeking a full time Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Solid State Battery Characterisation to join Professor Paul Shearing’s research group at the Department of Engineering Science. The post is funded by Innovate UK and is fixed-term to 31 January 2025. The research group will focus on the advanced multi-scale characterisation of the cell materials and full cells both at the beginning-of-life, during their operation, and at the end-of-life, complemented with simulations, enabling technological enhancements towards automotive viability. There is a particular focus on the application of X-ray imaging, with correlative measurements, to understand the design, performance and degradation of solid-state batteries.
