D. in Analytical Chemistry, Physical Chemistry or Physics is sought to join a project looking at the analysis of complex linear and branched alkane mixtures. Part of the work will require separating components by developing novel Thermal Diffusion Cells. The principle spectroscopic technique used will be Sum Frequency Generation (SFG) vibrational spectroscopy. Supplementary techniques also available will include Infrared Reflection Absorption Spectroscopy (IRRAS), Quartz Crystal Microbalance (QCM) and GCMS. We are looking for a highly motivated post-doctoral scientist to join the laboratory of Dr. Iva Tchasovnikarova at the Gurdon Institute, University of Cambridge. The overarching goal of the Tchasovnikarova lab is to apply novel genetic approaches to answer outstanding questions in epigenetics. Our research aims to (1) understand the molecular mechanisms utilised by chromatin regulators to exert their function in healthy human cells, and to (2) examine how these mechanisms are altered in disease.
